Probationary part-time (20-25 hours/week) to full-time | Monday - Friday, 7 AM - 5 PM

The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for growing our customer base within an assigned geographical territory by establishing new accounts and maintaining strong, long-term relationships with existing customers. This role requires a self-motivated individual who thrives on relationship-building, business development, and providing exceptional customer service.

Compensation

  • Competitive base salary of $45,000 - $62,000 ($17 - $24 per hour) plus bonus opportunities based on sales performance.
  • 5% bonus on the first order from each new customer acquired.
  • Additional bonus opportunities tied to new customer sales growth over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, actively pursue, and close new business opportunities.
  • Keep relationships strong with existing customers through regular communication, on-site visits, and proactive support.
  • Develop a robust understanding of A.F.Y.'s security, fire, and access control product offerings.
  • Actively promote new products, services, and solutions to customers.
  • Collaborate with our supplier partners to explore new products, evaluate interest in current products, and consider feedback to ensure customers’ needs are fully met.
  • Build competitive order quotes for clients, answer product inquiries by phone or internet, and resolve customers’ questions or concerns.
  • Accurately document activities, transactions, customer interactions, and sales opportunities using internal systems.
  • Effectively manage time and prioritize sales efforts within the assigned territory.
  • Participate in business planning and sales forecasting efforts with management.

Qualifications

  • Charismatic, self-motivated, results-driven, and success-minded attitude to sales growth.
  • Outgoing demeanor and articulate communication with strong relationship-building (soft) skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, stay organized digitally and physically, and manage time effectively.
  • Prior sales experience preferred (especially in distribution, construction, electrical, security, or related industries).
  • Coherent written and computer skills (grammar & spelling, Microsoft Office, composing emails, safe internet searches, etc).
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Willingness to travel locally within an assigned sales territory.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry-specific experience in security, fire alarm, access control, or related fields.
  • Mechanical aptitude or general technical understanding of product systems.
  • Familiarity with local contractor, integrator, or installer customer base is a plus.
  • Passion for providing solutions and top-tier service to customers.
